SEJ Resources: Understanding the U.S. Wood Products Industry
The American Wood Council represents the U.S. structural wood products industry, that includes everything from structural lumber to engineered wood panels and mass timber. We champion the development of data, technology, & standards to ensure the best use of wood products as safe, sustainable products.
We work to highlight the unique story of U.S. wood products — the industry provides rural manufacturing jobs that are key drivers and stabilizers of local economies, while caring for the long-term well being of our forests and providing the products that build where we live, play, & work.
At the same time, we provide education to building, fire, & city officials across the country, engage in the development of building codes and standards, and support the performance testing of U.S. wood products. All of these help ensure wood construction is done safely and according to recognized code requirements.
