Applicability (statewide, local, limited): STATEWIDE

The IBC, IRC and IFC along with the first four chapters of the IEBC are adopted and then amended by the California Building Standards Commission.   

Mass Timber Adoption

The mass timber provisions went into effect in 2021.

Notes:

The BSC has recently adopted the 2024 IBC, IRC, IFC and IEBC with CA amendments.  Effective for CA State projects July 1st , 2022 and effective throughout the state Jan 1st, 2023. Cities, Counties, etc. can produce amendments so long as they are not less restrictive that the State of CA adopted codes.
