LEESBURG, VA. – The American Wood Council (AWC) has announced the promotion of David Tyree, P.E., C.B.O., to South Central Regional Director of Codes & Regulations.
“In his 26 years with AWC, Dave has done exceptional work in model code development with service to the building code community and the wood industry. His promotion recognizes his leadership and contribution to AWC’s reputation as a trusted resource on building code requirements for wood construction. Dave continues to build on AWC’s already strong reputation towards ensuring wood products are properly recognized in ongoing building codes and standards development,” said AWC President & CEO Jackson Morrill.
His leadership in code development includes three terms as chair of the International Building Code Structural Committee, one term as chair of the International Residential Code Building Committee and one term on the International Code Council’s Life Safety Committee. He is also a leader of the AWC Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) task group working on development of WUI codes. Dave is a former recipient of the John Fies Industry Award from the International Conference of Building Officials and the Colorado Chapter ICC Beryl Wallace Award which is given for contributing service and dedication to the code development process, education, and goals of the Colorado Chapter of the International Code Council.
Dave started at AWC as West Coast Regional Manager and then as South Central Regional Manager with responsibility for states in the region, including Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. He will maintain the same region in his new role.
