AWC Applauds Senate Farm Bill Draft, Urges Swift Passage

The American Wood Council (AWC) applauds Senator John Boozman for his leadership in releasing a strong Farm Bill draft. With the forest products industry facing sustained economic headwinds, meaningful Senate action on a Farm Bill is a critical step toward ensuring America’s wood products manufacturers can continue producing the affordable, renewable building materials that underpin our nation’s housing market.

“The Farm Bill will make meaningful, lasting investments in America’s forests and the communities that depend on them. This legislation reflects a strong commitment to championing innovation and supporting U.S. manufacturing jobs, rural economies, and the sustainable wood products that help build American homes and businesses,” said AWC Vice President of Government Affairs Will Layden. “We urge the Senate to move swiftly to get this bill passed.”

The Senate draft includes critical wins for the wood products industry and the nation, from strengthening the Wood Innovations Grant program and modernizing forest data collection, to expanding federal opportunities for mass timber and broadening the reach of wood energy programs. These provisions reflect a shared understanding that wood products are essential to a sustainable, resilient, and affordable built environment.

AWC looks forward to working with Senator Boozman, the full Senate, the House, and the Administration to get a Farm Bill across the finish line.
