Strategic Plan Updated to Reflect Proactive Approach

Abstract of New Home Construction Site Framing.

The AWC Board approved a significant change to the “Advocacy” portion of AWC’s Strategic Plan. The revised language reflected an overall direction from the members to take a more comprehensive and proactive approach to protecting the industry from regulatory and legislative overreach and advancing policy opportunities that grow the market for the industry.

Will Layden, AWC’s Vice President of Government Affairs, shared with the Board the extensive process he followed with the members of the Public Affairs Committee to reach consensus on recommended revised language, which included several rounds of direct company engagement, an anonymous survey and multiple reviews of draft plans from the Public Affairs Committee.

The new Advocacy goal is to protect the industry from adverse state and federal legislation and regulation and advance public policies that support market growth.

This new strategic direction will guide AWC’s advocacy work in 2025, with three overarching projects that have emerged: fighting the regulatory and legislative onslaught, helping fix the housing supply crisis, and kickstarting a Build Clean Collective.
