    LEESBURG, VA. – The American Wood Council (AWC) released an updated version of its free Connection Calculator based on the provisions the National Design Specification® (NDS®) for Wood Construction as referenced in the 2015 International Building Code. The updated calculator includes cross-laminated timber (CLT) connection provisions and post-frame ring shank nails.

  • International Code Council Partners with AWC, WoodWorks on Heights & Areas App

    LEESBURG, VA. – The International Code Council has joined the American Wood Council (AWC) and WoodWorks in branding a free app that calculates the maximum allowable heights and areas for buildings of various occupancy classifications and types of construction. The Heights & Areas Calculator is based on provisions in the 2006 to 2015 editions of the International Building Code (IBC).

  • Energy Code Provisions in H.R. 3586 Enhance Product Neutrality

    WASHINGTON – American Wood Council (AWC) Vice President, Government Affairs Andrew Dodson issued the following statement regarding the introduction of The Energy Savings and Building Efficiency Act (H.R. 3586). The bill encourages product neutrality in building energy codes and defines the role of the Department of Energy (DOE) as a technical advisor in the development of model energy codes and subsequent state adoption.
