AWC Welcomes EPA’s Smart Sectors Snapshot

Apr 16, 2020

American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski issued a statement following the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) release of a forest products industry snapshot as part of the Smart Sectors Program.

“AWC members are very proud of their record of protecting the environment. With sound energy management and efficiency using biomass, wood products manufacturers make products that are central to the homes and lives of all Americans. The wood products industry strives to have as low an environmental impact as possible, and this snapshot shows that there have been significant reductions in our air emissions, both in total and on a per-unit-of-production basis. This snapshot is indicative of AWC members having met regulatory obligations and continuing to maintain strict compliance. Additionally, of the major building materials, only wood products are renewable and sequester carbon for the life of the buildings in which we live, work and learn.”
