  • 2015 International Residential Code (IRC)
  • 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
  • 2015 International Existing Building Code (IEBC)

Applicability (statewide, local, limited): LIMITED

Maine adopts the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC). Enforcement of the code is required for all communities with a population greater than 4,000. The Technical Building Codes and Standards Board which is appointed by the Governor, resolves conflicts between state building and fire codes.

Update: (6-7-17) - The Technical Codes and Standards Board (MUBEC) have submitted Rule-Making a second time with some changes listed below for the adoption of the 2015 IRC, IEBC and IBC. The 2009 IECC would remain in place for both Residential and Commercial. The 2013 ASHRAE 62.1, 62.2 and 90.1 as well as Radon Standard ASTM E-1465-08A will still be considered as Standards in the adoption package.

Maine adopted the 2015 I-Codes on 1/23/18.
